Privacy policy

This policy covers the files-tech.com website and summarises what the Files Tech apps do. For a given app, its own policy prevails: the PRIVACY.md file of its GitHub repository, and the app's own screen for the apps that ship it.
1. Who is responsible
Patrice Haltaya, a private individual publishing Files Tech on a non-professional basis (see the legal notice). Contact: contact@files-tech.com.
2. The apps
2.1 The principle
- No advertising, no audience measurement, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no user account.
- There is no Files Tech server: the publisher receives no data from the apps.
- Your data (files, notes, passwords, messages, appointments…) stays on your phone, except when you export or share it, and for the network uses described below.

- Update check: the app asks GitHub's public API for the latest version number. The app sends GitHub no content from the app and no data you entered; the connection still gives it your IP address and the technical data of the request, as with any server you contact.
- Google Drive (PDF Tech, optional): if you connect your Google account, your files travel between your phone and Google, under Google's terms. The publisher has no access to them.
- Read Files Tech: the document scanner relies on the phone's Google Play services; text recognition runs on the device, and Google ML Kit's telemetry module is neutralised in it since version 2.15.
- SMS Tech: your SMS and MMS travel through your carrier's network, as with any messaging app. If you turn it on, the emergency mode sends an SMS to the contacts you chose, with your location as a Google Maps link (marked "+/-2 km" when it is only approximate).
2.3 Backup and deletion
All seven apps disable Android's automatic backup (allowBackup="false"). Uninstalling an app deletes its data. Files you exported yourself stay where you put them, under your responsibility.
2.4 Permissions
Each app lists its Android permissions and what they are for in its own policy. A sensitive permission (camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, calendar, location…) only serves the feature you grant it for, and the data involved stays on the phone, unless the feature you use consists of sending, exporting or sharing it (see 2.1 and 2.2).
2.5 No processing by the publisher
Since the publisher receives no data from the apps, it processes none: what you store in them stays under your sole control, on your phone.
3. The files-tech.com website

In the contact form, the fields marked with an asterisk are needed to send it, and the email address is needed to reply to you: without them, the message cannot be sent. Nothing, neither the law nor a contract, obliges you to write to the publisher. The form sends a confirmation copy to the address you enter.
No data is sold, rented or used for advertising or profiling.
3.2 Cookies
The site uses no advertising cookie, no audience measurement, no tracking pixel, and automatically loads no resource from another site (font, script, video). It sets only three cookies, needed for it to work or requested by you, and therefore exempt from consent (article 82 of the French Data Protection Act):

3.3 Recipients
- Infomaniak Network SA (Switzerland) — hosting of the site and of the mailbox. Switzerland benefits from a European Commission adequacy decision.
- GitHub, Inc. (USA) — hosting of the source code and APK files. When you download an APK, GitHub processes your IP address under its own policy; GitHub participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
4. Your rights
For the site's data, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection provided by the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act. To exercise them: contact@files-tech.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
5. Changes
This policy is updated whenever a change affects the data, the permissions or the network use of an app or of the site. The date is at the top of the page. The French version prevails.
