Read Files Tech is distributed outside the Play Store (sideload + F-Droid). The combination
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE + REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES — required
for the universal file explorer feature and APK install from the explorer —
is wrongly flagged by Google Play Protect as a dropper signature
(false positive). The app is fully open source (Apache 2.0), signed, scanned by VirusTotal,
and an appeal has been filed with Google. While we wait for that appeal to be processed,
Play Protect may block the install.
To install in the meantime: open Play Store → profile icon → Play Protect → gear ⚙️ → uncheck "Scan apps with Play Protect", run the install, then turn Play Protect back on afterwards. Read Files Tech never downloads nor installs an APK in the background: every install goes through the system PackageInstaller with your explicit consent.
